Candidate Statement
My goals are to expand the awareness of ASID to the general state design community. To establish and emphasize the importance of an ASID membership. This would be achieved by working closely with the design community membership chair in planning and executing local membership development and retention functions. Welcome new members with a personal phone call and let them know that the state board is there is assist in their needs. Putting them in contact with their local community membership chair. Encourage and promote student membership by working closely with the SRB on the state board. Having the SRB communicate & interact with the current university design student chapter. It is important for the SRB to emphasize to the student members and non-members how helpful being involved in ASID can be. By being active in conjunction with the local chapter, this can establish relationships with local designers and other industry professionals which could lead to employment. Very important for all designers. They should understand that an ASID membership sets a precedence of professionalism and experience.
