December 2024 President's Letter

Greetings to all our ASID Texas Chapter Members!

As we reflect on another successful year with ASID Texas, I am filled with gratitude for being part of such a vibrant and expansive chapter. Being the largest chapter in ASID is a privilege, and it’s inspiring to see the dedication of our numerous volunteers who are instrumental in driving our success. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Board of Directors and the over twenty volunteer leaders who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Special appreciation goes to our Design Community Chairs and Financial Chairs, along with their committees. Their unwavering commitment ensures that ASID Texas remains dynamic and influential.

Thanks to our Design Community Leaders, our vast chapter has a strong presence not just in Dallas, but also in Austin, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and West Texas. Their efforts keep ASID Texas at the forefront of the Texas design scene, enabling us to inspire, connect, and innovate within our community. Here’s to continued success and growth as we move forward together!

Our dynamic board has been hard at work, and in just two months since the start of our new leadership term, we've made significant strides that I'm excited to share:

Launch of the Student Engagement Task Force

For the first time, we’ve established a dedicated task force aimed at enhancing engagement and support for our student members. This initiative will provide invaluable opportunities and resources for emerging designers.

Release of the Updated ‘One Ask One Give’ Sponsorship Package

We are thrilled to unveil a new version of our highly successful sponsorship package, which offers even more benefits and opportunities for our partners to connect with our vibrant design community.

Expansion of DEI Efforts

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion continues to grow. We are actively enhancing our DEI initiatives and educational programming to create a more inclusive environment for all members.

Creation of the Designer Resource Sustainability Program

We have launched a new program focused on sustainability resources for design students and programs. This initiative aims to equip our designers of tomorrow with resources to make their student presentations and design studio libraries a fantastic tool to aid in their career path.

Welcoming New Members from Oklahoma

We’re excited to expand our community by welcoming new members from our neighboring state of Oklahoma. Their addition enriches our chapter and strengthens the connections across our regional design landscape.

These accomplishments are testament to our collective dedication and passion for the design profession, and I look forward to what we can achieve together in the coming year! With such a dynamic group of leaders and industry creatives, there’s no doubt that 2025 will be a fabulous year for us all.

Speaking of 2025…

It’s an exciting milestone for ASID, as we will celebrate our 50th anniversary as a leader in the design profession. For half a century, ASID has maintained its position as the foremost organization within the Architecture and Design space, championing excellence and innovation across our industry. In line with this significant mark, the Society is excited to introduce the new strategic plan, which will guide us in enhancing our outreach and impact.

We aim to celebrate this landmark year with a variety of engaging programming, fostering strong connections among our members, and strengthening our industry partnerships. One of the highlights will be our landmark annual conference Celebrating Design Texas: Education, Expo & Awards where we’ll honor our achievements and spotlight the exceptional talent within our community. We can’t wait to come together and celebrate all that we’ve accomplished, as well as the bright future ahead.

Here’s to making 2025 a truly memorable year for ASID Texas,

Adrian Galvan, ASID Allied
