Dear ASID Texas Chapter Members,
I feel incredibly privileged to have served as your President for the 2024-2025 term, which comes to a close September 30th.
As a long-standing member of our prestigious Society, there is no greater honor than leading our chapter toward continued excellence. I am proud to represent our diverse community—as the first Latino President of the Texas Chapter, the second President as an Allied practitioner, and a proud member of the San Antonio Design Community.
When I accepted this role, I knew I would be stepping into leadership during our 50th anniversary—a milestone I eagerly looked forward to celebrating with all of you. Guided by our Strategic Plan, my goal throughout the year has been to strengthen our chapter and foster a culture of Legacy through Leadership, with a mission rooted in Education and Inclusivity.
This year, we have worked diligently to bring that vision to life by:
- Creating a Student Engagement Task Force to share our passion, emphasize the importance of our work, and inspire the next generation of designers.
- Developing a Sustainability Initiative that has, to date, saved over 8,000 pounds of discontinued samples and materials from ending up in landfills.
- Continuing our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts with the 2nd Annual Diversity in Design Small Business Grant.
- Supporting our future designers with $4,000 in scholarships for our Student Symposium Initiative.
- Engaging our membership through more than 10 communication channels and hosting numerous events across Texas to nurture relationships with our 2,000 members.
Throughout my term, I have endeavored to uphold the legacy of leadership and prestige established by those who came before us. It takes a passionate team of volunteers—our Board of Directors, Design Community Leaders, and other dedicated volunteers—to build and sustain our success. To each of you, I extend my deepest gratitude.
It has been a true honor to serve as your President this year. I am incredibly grateful to be part of the ASID Texas Chapter family. The connections, relationships, and friendships I’ve gained will stay with me for a lifetime.
Let us all take pride in being part of a community of designers, educators, students, and affiliates—united by the belief that DESIGN IMPACTS LIVES.
Thank you!
Adrian Galvan, ASID Allied
