Every year before he or she leaves office, the current ASID Texas Chapter President singles out members who have provided extra support and have gone above and beyond for the chapter. Annette Mallard, ASID, RID, the 2021-2022 ASID Texas Chapter President, has chosen to bestow each of the following members with a President’s Award for the 2021-2022 leadership year:
BERET EVENSTAD, Allied ASID
Beret is currently the Fort Worth Design Community Chair. She stepped up during the pandemic when things were unsure and no one wanted to meet in person. Not only has she created safe environments for monthly meetings, but she has also given tirelessly to make sure that all needs have been met. Beret has been instrumental in reinstating the West Texas Design Community and supporting them along with the Fort Worth Design Community. She never meets a challenge that’s too difficult – she just rolls up her sleeves and gets it done. Beret comes with solutions instead of problems and that makes her a joy to work beside.
NICHELLE HOSLEY, Allied ASID
Nichelle is currently the San Antonio Design Community Chair. Nichelle was the SADC Chair for two years and then this past year stepped in when the new Chair had to step away due to overwhelming family commitments. We are looking forward to Nichelle coming on to the Chapter Board as Membership Director as of October 1, 2022, the new ASID Leadership Year. Nichelle has been a strong leader on our Diversity Committee and helped in getting this group started and making a positive impact on our entire Chapter. She is also positive and willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done.
VERONICA SANDERS, Allied ASID
Veronica is currently the Professional Development Director on the Chapter Board. Veronica has been instrumental in providing programs to our members virtually to help all members grow and develop. She’s an integral part of the Diversity Committee and, recently, Veronica has been adjunct educator for Dallas College while preparing for NCIDQ Exam. She is one of the most positive people, is a pleasure to work with, and steps up whenever needed. If you need a smiling face, you will find that positive spirit in Veronica.
ANN THERIOT, ASID, M.A., IDEC, NCIDQ
Ann is currently our Chapter Educator & Student Liaison. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Interior Design in the Department of Human Sciences and Design at Baylor University where she has been so instrumental in growing our students’ involvement. Ann has reached out to other Educators in our Chapter Design Programs, developing communications between Students and Professionals. She is such a bright star in our students’ programs and a respected educator. It has been an honor to get to know her and work alongside her during these new developing times in our Chapter.
LAURA MCDONALD STEWART, FASID, RID, LEED AP, WELL AP
New for this year, we are creating the Laura Stewart Award to honor her for her continued philanthropic service, dedication and longevity to our interior design industry. Laura has served our profession in any and every way needed and keeps us organized and running efficiently. Too bad we cannot clone her, but then again, no need, because this one Laura is an amazing leader, and we are humbled and grateful to her. It will be hard to find anyone to fill her shoes but, hopefully, we can all help her by doing our part to make things smoother. Thank you for all you do for the ASID Texas Chapter and beyond.
