January 2025 President's Letter

Happy New Year to all our ASID Texas Chapter Members!

I’m thrilled to kick off this amazing year of 2025 with you and excited to celebrate our 50th year Anniversary of ASID!

It’s inspiring to see how ASID has evolved over the past five decades, and it’s a privilege to be part of such a vibrant community of design professionals. This milestone not only marks our collective achievements but also presents a unique opportunity for us to come together, share our stories, and strengthen the bonds within our chapter.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, I hope we all take some time to reflect on our own personal membership with the organization. Whether you joined recently or have been with us since the very beginning, each of our journeys contributes to the rich tapestry of ASID’s history. Personally, I have been a member since my student days, which makes me a proud member of our esteemed organization for 20 years!

This milestone is not just a reflection of the past but also an opportunity for us to envision the future of our profession and the impact we can make together. I encourage each of you to think about what ASID means to you, the experiences that have shaped your career, and how we can collectively enhance our community moving forward.

This year, we will not only celebrate our anniversary as an organization, but also as members of the largest chapter within ASID—our Texas Chapter! This chapter boasts a legacy of its own, recognized as one of the most innovative, diverse, geographically broad, and sustainable chapters among the 44 chapters of our organization.

Legacy is built on great leadership, and this year, we will honor the remarkable legacy that has carried us from our inception in 1975 to now, as we look towards 2025! The strength of our chapter's legacy is sustained by a solid structure and exceptional leadership. I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our chapter administrator, Pat Gallagher, who has been an invaluable asset to our chapter since 2003. Her dedication and commitment have been instrumental in our success.

Additionally, I want to recognize the countless volunteers and the 44 leaders who have stepped up as chapter presidents over the years. Their vision, passion, and tireless efforts have paved the way for our progress and achievements. Together, they have nurtured a vibrant community that empowers us all and fosters collaboration, growth, and legacy.

To commemorate this legacy and rich history, we have planned a series of exciting events, workshops, and networking opportunities throughout the year. I encourage each of you to actively participate, share your experiences, and connect with fellow members. Whether you’re a long-time member or new to ASID, your involvement makes our organization stronger and enriches the design community as a whole.

As we move forward, let us celebrate not only our rich history but also the bright future that lies ahead for our Texas Chapter. Together, we can build upon this legacy, continuing to innovate and inspire in the world of design.

Here's to many more years of innovation, collaboration, and design excellence with ASID!
