Winners of the 2024 Texas Chapter Member Awards Announced

The ASID Texas Chapter Member Awards recognize those who have provided exemplary volunteer service to the chapter. Each of the awards is named after an individual who has exuded the characteristics all of us should admire and strive to emulate. They both left a legacy behind, setting the bar for us all to reach for in our own dedication to the interior design industry through the Texas Chapter of ASID.

We are pleased to announce that the following members were recognized for their service to the chapter by winning 2024 Texas Chapter Member Awards:

THE KATHY HAMMOND INDUSTRY PARTNER AWARD

Kathy Hammond was praised for her commitment to professionalism, keen sense of style, and eagerness to support the community. She consistently stepped up to the plate, always willing and eager to contribute where the need arose. This award is for an Industry Partner Representative who has continually and enthusiastically supported the Texas Chapter through their contribution of time, energy, materials, and resources.

  • JOHN STARK has served in many vital roles for the San Antonio showroom of ASID Industry Partner Stone Solutions for over two decades, and during that time he has been a constant advocate and partner with the San Antonio Design Community. John has been an enthusiastic part of the inspiration, implementation, and hosting for many annual SADC events, such as the highly successful Wine Walk, Party for new interior design graduates and Emerging Professionals, and the Business Side of Design mini-conference. He is always willing and eager to contribute his time, energy, materials, and resources to support ASID. He has graciously shared his showroom with ASID for team meetings and general events, always with over-the-top hospitality. John collaborates with designers, exuding a passion for supporting them in creating the most creative, unique, and successful projects for their clients with the best materials, best customer service, and unparalleled follow through. John deserves to be recognized for his 20+ year dedication to supporting ASID, especially this year as he transitions to retirement and a well-earned change of pace.

THE ROBERT PRESTON HENRY PRACTITIONER AWARDS

Serving as ASID Texas Chapter president from 1993-1994, Robert Preston Henry actively promoted the profession he loved so much through a vibrant career spanning 60 years of dedication. He cultivated a love for interior design and was devoted to ASID. Practitioners nominated for one of these three awards radiate the same vibrant eagerness to support the chapter through volunteerism and commitment to peers, events and the chapter as a whole.

On the Rise Legacy Award
This individual is still immersed in their interior design studies while being plugged in and eager to volunteer time and energy at the student level, encouraging peers and fellow members alike to further advance the interior design profession, the chapter, and ASID.

  • STEPHANIE JIMENEZ, ASID Student has served in her position as University of the Incarnate Word Student Liaison with passion and dedication. She participated in San Antonio Design Community Committee meetings despite having a night class on the same nights, and she even participated via Zoom when out of the country. Stephanie negotiated with her professor to miss class to attend meetings and team with fellow ASID Student Remie LeBlanc to obtain notes so she could serve ASID. She has been instrumental as a volunteer, attending big events and helping to assure their success. In addition to being a great Student Liaison, her positive energy and eagerness to learn and serve have been invaluable in networking and connecting with peers beyond UIW, inspiring them to get involved with ASID. Stephanie has much potential to rise as a leader through our Society, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

Emerging Legacy Award
This practitioner is relatively new to ASID but is supporting the chapter with lots of time and energy, all with a fresh outlook and positive attitude.

  • JENNIFER SALYER, ASID Allied has a servant’s heart and a passion for ASID and our industry. Jennifer has served on the San Antonio Design Community Committee as a Student Liaison, Financial Chair, and currently as Chair. She has a gift for organization, networking, communicating, identifying the strengths and skills of individuals and weaving them together to create a very successful outcome for a project or events. She is a focused and patient listener, while also expressing her thoughts and concerns in a professional way. She is a creative thinker and problem solver in both her service to her community and ASID. Jennifer demonstrates all that ASID leaders should be: a dedicated servant, effective leader, great communicator, thoughtful, inspiring, and dedicated to the Society.

Longevity Legacy Award
This individual has graced the ASID Texas Chapter with support, time and energy for six or more years of consecutive membership.

  • VICTORIA MUNIZ, ASID has been amazingly helpful to the San Antonio Design Community. She served for many years as a general member before stepping up to be Programs Chair and now Financial Chair, a role in which she takes great care to be a good steward of our members’ membership dues and sponsors’ support. She, along with the Chair and the rest of the Committee, keeps the SADC going with her strong organization skills. She bleeds ASID and supports the overall community in so many ways. Victoria has an eloquent gift of speaking to and engaging Industry Partners, communicating the value of joining ASID to build relationships and grow businesses. She also often attends student events, encouraging and inspiring them and promoting ASID as the strong networking tool it is. She is a Registered Interior Designer and encourages emerging designers to set the goal of taking the NCIDQ Exam. Victoria is a great example of a member working hard to advance our profession in ways that align with our Society’s strategic plan.
